Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center originally opened as the Chicago Union Hospital in 1897 and served Chicago's north side communities. In 1921, the Illinois Masonic Hospital Association purchased Chicago Union Hospital and renamed it Illinois Masonic Hospital. In 2000, the hospital became a member of Advocate Health Care and is known today as Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
