Abstract
Mental health is an integral part of overall health and well-being for people with and without Down syndrome. In this presentation, Brian Chicoine, MD will describe common characteristics of individuals with Down syndrome that are important to understand when supporting their mental health promotion efforts. He will also discuss diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions in people with Down syndrome and provide case examples of some of the mental health challenges that people with Down syndrome may experience. Additionally, Dr. Chicoine will highlight different types of resources that can be used by adults with Down syndrome and those who care for, work with, and support them.
