Abstract
This chapter provides information on the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in COVID-19 cases, and a brief review of the pathophysiology of COVID-19 in persons with diabetes. Also, the risk of new-onset diabetes in the setting of COVID-19 is examined, followed by the risk of COVID-19 in individuals with different types of diabetes including prediabetes, pediatric diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes. Lastly, complications and mortality associated with SARS-CoV-19-infected individuals with diabetes are further explored.
