Description
The Zander Exercise Equipment was housed in the Gymnasium Building, at the Milwaukee Sanitarium. This was a series of equipment and instruments for “vibratory” treatment, passive exercise, mechanical and abdominal massage, and contained a saddle for horseback riding exercise. Doctors of this time felt that vibratory treatment was useful in relaxing (mainly female) anxious patients. Later, the Zander equipment was moved to the North Building. The equipment may have been used in the early to middle part of the 20th century.
