Sarah Wittmeyer, PhD Nursing Student at Marquette University, was awarded a scholarship from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to attend and participate in the 2026 Student Policy Summit in Washington DC, March 30-31, 2026.
Abstract
More than 400 nurses from 46 states with varying levels of education (ADN, BSN, DNP, ANP, PhD) came together on Capitol Hill to advocate for nursing research, nursing education, and nursing workforce development. Attendees were able to meet with state representatives' and senators' offices and share stories regarding why they should support Title VIII nursing funding, a bill which is currently up for a vote. I was one of three students from Marquette who attended along with our Dean of Nursing, Dr. Jill Guttormson.
